Beauty is a very subjective term and just as hard to pin down as say love or faith. You can’t really see it or measure it in an objective sense. And three people may never agree on the same definition. That is because we all have different opinions of what beauty means and set standards for ourselves and for others (or let them be set for us). Beauty at first instance takes ones mind only to how one looks on the outside – makeup, hair, clothes, amongst others.
It’s a common opinion that beautiful people have easier lives, that they don’t know how good they have it. But most times in this instance, they usually mean pretty people. You probably know a few of such people. They can waltz through and make heads turn, bend (some) people to their will and so on and so forth. But most often than not, they may be pretty but they might also be struggling with what beauty means to them.
Social Media Campaigns and Fashion Magazines have not made it any easier for us. They set us up to feel less than beautiful by setting up the standard of what beauty should be with their photoshopped and airbrushed photos. I think that the same way art is appreciated in very different ways by varying classes of people, everyone should be allowed to define what beauty means to them.
As for me, beauty is what you do, how you do it and the essence of who you are and how you treat other people.
You are truly beautiful when you can make other peoples’ lives better just by being in it.
Beauty is a smile.
Beauty is whatever you want it to be.
Beauty is living life to the fullest.
What does beauty mean to you?
